A Letter from the President:

As September begins we are excited about the season of change.  We hope that the change comes and we will soon be able to get back to normal.  One thing that does not change is how busy we become in the fall.  Even though HTNA can not have an event yet there are many activities coming up that we would like to highlight here in the President Letter.

Yard featured on our Instagram page!

First, we would like to remind anyone that would like to participate in NNO on October 6th, the Deadline to register your house or block is THIS Friday, September 18th

In conjunction with NNO and to support the network do not forget about this weekend stopping by to help the RPD "Can Do" Food Drive THIS SATURDAY, September 19th.

At our 2019 4th of July Parade, our neighborhood raised $150 to help donate to the Officer Sherrard Memorial Highway Fund.  We are proud that we were able to help in a small way the dedication is this Friday, September 18th at 10 am.

You can find all links and details to the stories above in the Community Information below in our newsletter.

Thank You!

We had a neighbor give us a good idea to create a thank you basket for all those front line workers.  All the amazon delivery, UPS, USPS workers sacrifice every day to bring us the goods we need that way we do not have to leave the safety of our home.  THANK YOU to all frontline workers, especially our teachers!

Lastly, we have had several asking for an update on the neighborhood sign toppers.  We are currently working on the design to send to the city for approval and hope to get those going very soon!

If you need anything please do not hesitate to reach out to us.  Please send me an email below if there is a story you would like us to highlight in our next newsletter.

Thanks,

Clinton Ball

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT 2020

This year's registration for National Night Out 2020 is now open.  Go to Richardsonpolice.net to register or access the registration form at the following link  http://www.richardsonpolice.net/services/community-engagement/national-night-out/nno-block-party-registration

(Please register your block by THIS FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 18th!)

This year's National Night Out is being held on Tuesday October 6th, 2020 from 6pm to 8pm and will be quite different.  Please read below for additional information.

Due to the COVID 19 virus situation we request that no one hold block parties this year.  Be safe and practice good social distancing.

Since we are not recommending block parties or social gatherings we are recommending that each registered block celebrate NNO by:

  • Each household on the street holding their own individual/family style picnic on the lawn of their residence and/or

  • Decorate your yard--some of the suggestions you may want to use are

    • displaying homemade National Night Out or crime prevention posters/signs promoting support for car or home burglary prevention, or

    • For a more patriotic theme break out the US/Texas flags along with your red/white/and blue ribbons

  • It can also be as simple as just relaxing on your lawn and turning on your porch light as a symbol of solidarity against crime, maybe even by switching out your porch light to a blue bulb

The evening of National Night Out, a police officer will slowly drive through the blocks that are registered to show support for our community.  The officer may stop to take an occasional picture but will be maintaining proper social distancing precautions.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to give the Crime Prevention Unit a call at 972-744-4955.

Richardson Police Non-Emergency
# 972-744-4801

There have been many complaints in the neighborhood about speeding cars and Large 18-wheeler trucks driving through the neighborhood. We have created a 4 step approach to help our neighborhood and the Police Department better enforce this no truck policy though our neighborhood streets. The HTNA Board and a few neighbors are currently in discussions with the city and the chief of police to help better correct these issues.

1. Get the name of the truck or vehicle type to report.

2. If possible, safely get the license plate of the truck or vehicle speeding. (Even if you are not able to get these first two items, please call and report the speeding vehicles or the truck infraction as the police department does keep a record of all calls.)

3. IMMEDIATELY call the Richardson Police Non-Emergency # 972-744-4801 so the time will be noted on their records in an effort to establish a pattern as to the time of day these things are happening.

4. Call every time!

Also, for those who live on Summit, we need to report the loud drag racing that occurs on Centennial each evening. If everyone will help by following these 4 easy steps every time we will be able to keep our neighborhood the quiet streets we all desire.
